About lil_angel_faye:
"So were you zapped with the One-Use Robotification Zappermajig?"

I get that a lot.

Well, actually, they usually don't remember the name or have trouble pronouncing it, so it usually comes out as, "So were you zapped with that robot ray... thing?" When I look at them irritably, they mistake it for confusion— it's harder showing your emotions when you're Robot— and they elaborate unnecessarily, "You know, the ray that turns you Robot."

It's tiring, it really is. It was like this line of conversation had somehow replaced small talk about the weather. I used to try directing others' attention toward the weather ("Hey, did you know tomorrow's going to be warm and breezy? With an average temperature of 28 C!") but it never works.

Actually, I always ad libbed the numbers, since there's no weather broadcasting for Altador. It's pretty easy, though, since it's always warm and breezy around here. The weather doesn't change much since the mountains that surround us protect us from colder drafts from the north, and we're also coastal, and that helps too. At least, that's what Mom says. We're homeschooled. I'm no good at geography— or was it geology? I always mix the two up— but it doesn't take a genius to figure out our climate's better than Shenkuu's. Sunny one moment, freezing cold the next. Don't know how they stand living there. I always avoided going to Shenkuu unless we needed herbs or if I had to run some errands.

And you know, I like to think my failure at redirecting others' attention was due to the craze over Dr. Sloth's (nth) attempt at world domination, and not because I lack charisma. Talking about weather's cool, right? Fine, it isn't, but just don't let my sisters know about this. I'd never live it down.

Anyway, back to the "robot ray thing". I wasn't zapped with the ray. My mom was part of the Resistance and helped defeat Sloth, and was wondering whether she should get the ray or Ylana's Blaster and ended up choosing the blaster. Not that I minded my stuck-up, prissy, bratfaced excuse of a sister getting the blaster instead of me. ("But Faye, your sister is the battle pet.") No siree, I didn't mind one bit.

In any case, although I was never really the lab rat, one day Mom took me to that crazy scientist, and poof, I was Robot. Weird how that worked out, huh? I liked being Starry before, but being Robot was nice and kinda different. And I guess being Robot helped me warm up to Shenkuu since the horrible weather didn't bother me anymore. Now, if I only had that stupid blaster...

Perhaps it was due to Mom's guilty conscience, the sullen glares I directed toward her, or the way I'd take off my Cranium Housing to stare at her with my eyes ("Faye! Stop staring at me with those red creepy eyes, or so help me, I'll—!") that she got me a Resistance Battle Visor that looks awesome on me.

The downside, of course, is that I got even more inquiries about how I turned Robot, since the visor was a plot prize. It's good I don't have a Resistance badge on me, or I'd never hear the end of it. It'd probably attract those Resistance fanatic nerds too. Ugh.

At least I'm not MSPP. I got an MSPP friend, and you won't believe the number of misinformed people who beg her to help with avatar troubles. ("STOP IT! It's the TCG, not me. Get OFF me! ARGH, YOU RIPPED MY STITCHES!!!")

It ain't pretty.
